Match day is used a lot by sports journalists and broadcasters covering the UEFA Champions league. For example, during the first leg of this year's quarterfinals, the first two matches were played on a Tuesday (Match Day 1) and the second two matches were played on a Wednesday (Match Day 2). The third group of two matches were played the following Tuesday (Match Day 3), and the last group of two matches were played the next day (Match Day 4).
